Evelyn H. Sarff, 73, Evelyn H. Sarff, 73, Nashwauk, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, in her home.
Born Jan. 22, 1934, in Gray Eagle, Minn., she was the daughter of Melvin and Elizabeth (Marty) Halling. Evelyn grew up in the Pengilly and Calumet areas and was married to Clarence Sarff on Nov. 11, 1950.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Pengilly VFW Auxiliary, and co-owner and operator of the Inn Towne Pizza in Nashwauk.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Elizabeth Halling; her husband, Clarence; brothers, Gordon and Robert Halling; sisters, Gertrude in infancy and Betty Barsness, and her stepfather, Evert Kalmi.
She is survived by her children, James (Kathy) Sarff, of Zim, Theresa Welch, of Hibbing, Marjorie (Jerry) Ballengee, of White Plains, Md., Anita (Julio) Lopez, of Chandler, Ariz., and Pamela (Dean) Cowan, of Pengilly; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold and Delbert Halling, of Pengilly, Eugene Halling, of Grand Rapids, and Ken Kalmi, of Pengilly; sisters, Louise Kolaski, of Sauk Center, Minn., Genevieve Stolp and Pauline Gangl, of Nashwauk, Alvina Steinberg and Lila Hofer, of Calumet, and Edna Kalmi, of Castle Rock, Colo.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5 in St. Cecelia?s Catholic Church, Nashwauk.
Visitation: Will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at the church.
Burial: Interment will be in the Nashwauk Cemetery.
Arrangements are with the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine.
