- Mary's mother Mary Ann Sloan (Clyde) and father David Clyde came to America December 25, 1817. David was a Irish Rebel and was hunted by the English troops. He escaped with Mary to America. Both David and Mary came to America from Lawnpatrick County Ireland. As a sailor he worked for his passage on board the Brigg Shakerly. They were married in New York City Christmas day 1817.
