James went by the nick name of "tob". He was a small man, who was very quiet. A team of horses ran away with him, dragging him when he was a young man and he never did field work again. He would cut weeds with a sickle from fence rows and do livestock chores as assigned by his parents. He had to have a bowel dissection at age of 62 years and that was the first time in his life that he had gone to see a doctor. He was very frightened.
