  Susan's obituary in the Monday, 14 December 1914 Morning Republican, Hancock County, Ohio states the following: The funeral of Mrs. Susan Hickerson, aged 81 years, who died here at 10 o'clock Saturday morning from complications of diseases following a fall two weeks ago, will be held at 1 o'clock this afternoon with Rev. H. E. Oldacre, of the Church of Christ, in charge. Burial will be in the McComb cemetery. Mrs. Hickerson was born in Stark county Nov. 8, 1833, being the daughter of Jacob and Mary Matthias. She was one of eight children. Of the immediate family, Dr. A. C. Mi[sic]tthias, of McComb, is the only one who survives. Mrs. Hsckerson's parents came to this county when she was only fourteen years old. She was married to James H. Hickerson, Sept. 11, 1852. They lived together more than fifty years, and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Hickerson died two years ago last May. They were the parents of four children, all of whom survive, J. Frank, Elmer E. and J. Allen, of McComb, and one daughter, Mrs. C. H. Jaquett [sic] of Grover Hill, O. The daughter was at her bedside during her last illness. Mrs. Hickerson is survived also by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was a life-long member of the German Baptist, or Dunkard church, joining it fifty-three ago."
