Joseph Higgins resided in 1793 in school district No. 5, one mile west of Alexander Kathan's. He was probably a son of Uriah Higgins, who came to Dummerston from Wendell, Mass., in 1790, and was the father of Caleb, who married Lucy Hildreth, May 5, 1796, Alpheus, who married Phebe Hildreth, September 21, in 1797, and Polly, who married David Dutton, in 1782.
