Mrs. Sarah J. East, 80, wife of David East, residing at Easttown, four miles west of Lima, on the Elida Road, died suddenly at her home, Sunday night. She had been in ill health two weeks from heart trouble but her death came as a shock.
She was a pioneer resident of Allen County and although born in Fairfield County, had resided in Allen the greater part of her life. Mr. and Mrs. East celebrated the 57th anniversary of their marriage October 31 of last year. Mrs. East was born on January 9, 1841.
The husband, three daughters, a son, nine grand-children and eleven great grand-children survive. Children are Mrs. F. S. Bartlett, Chardon; Mrs. George S. Ewing, Cannonsburg, Pa; Miss Lille M. East, residing at the parental home; Elmer A. East, Lima.
Funeral services will be held at the residence Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. J. A. Canby, pastor of the Central Church of Christ, of which she was a member, will officiate. Interment will be in Greenlawn cemetery, near Elida.
